Idafa construction (<\/span>\u0627\u0644\u0625\u0636\u0627\u0641\u0629<\/span>) is a construction of 2 nouns. The first noun is indefinite, e.g. (<\/span>\u0643\u062a\u0627\u0628<\/span>) \u201cbook\u201d, and the second noun is usually definite, e.g. <\/span>(<\/span>\u0627\u0644\u0637\u0627\u0644\u0628<\/span>) \u201cthe student\u201d. The meaning of both words become related with the relationship of \u2018of\u2019, i.e. the first noun is presented as one that belongs to or that is specific to the second one, .e.g. (<\/span>\u0643\u062a\u0627\u0628 \u0627\u0644\u0637\u0627\u0644\u0628<\/span>) is the \u201cthe book of the student\u201d. As a result, the first noun of idafa becomes definite, as it refers to a specific thing. Possessive pronouns at the end of nouns make a special kind of idafa can be created with the use of one noun and a possessive pronoun, e.g. <\/span>(<\/span>\u0643\u062a\u0627\u0628\u0647<\/span>) \u201chis book\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n

More than one Idafa construction can be used together in what is called a complex idafa, e.g. (<\/span>\u0643\u062a\u0627\u0628 \u0637\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0627\u0644\u062c\u0627\u0645\u0639\u0629<\/span>)<\/span>\u201cthe book of the university student\u201d. In this case, only the last noun can be definite, and all the ones that come before it are indefinite. <\/span><\/p>\n
