There are two words that are written in the same way and that are often confusing for learners of Arabic. These words are (\u0623\u0646\u0651) \u2018anna\u2019, (\u0623\u0646\u0652) \u2018an\u2019. They are functional words that differ in the way they are used.<\/p>\n
These two words collocate with different verbs, e.g. with (\u0639\u0631\u0641) \u2018knew\u2019, we must use (\u0623\u0646\u0651) which is more like \u2018that\u2019 in English; and with (\u0623\u0631\u0627\u062f) \u2018wanted\u2019, we must use (\u0623\u0646\u0652) which is more like \u2018to\u2019 in English.
