In the previous post, I wrote that the Arabic language that we use today contains many words that are of foreign origins, especially in spoken dialects.\u00a0 In this post, I present some words that are of Persian or Farsi origin.<\/p>\n

\u062a\u0646\u0648\u0631\u0629 (tannoura) = skirt<\/p>\n
\u0628\u0627\u0630\u0646\u062c\u0627\u0646 (bathinjan) = aubergine<\/p>\n
\u0641\u0647\u0631\u0633\u062a (fihrist) = list of contents of a book<\/p>\n
\u062a\u062f\u0634\u064a\u0646 (tadsheen) = launching or inauguration<\/p>\n
\u0623\u0633\u0637\u0648\u0627\u0646\u0629 (Ustowanah) = record or disc<\/p>\n
\u0645\u0647\u0631\u062c\u0627\u0646 (mihrajan) = festival<\/p>\n
\u0623\u0637\u0644\u0633 (Atlas) = Atlas<\/p>\n
\u0623\u0633\u062a\u0627\u0630 (Ustath) = teacher<\/p>\n
\u0633\u0631\u0627\u0628 (sarab) = mirage<\/p>\n
\u0628\u0627\u0632\u0627\u0631 (bazaar) = market<\/p>\n
\u0628\u0631\u0634\u0627\u0645\u0629 (birshama) = pill (tablet)<\/p>\n
Most of these words are used in colloquial dialects, though some of them have already established their status in written Arabic like \u0623\u0637\u0644\u0633, \u0623\u0633\u062a\u0627\u0630, \u0633\u0631\u0627\u0628, \u0641\u0647\u0631\u0633\u062a; whereas words like \u0628\u0631\u0634\u0627\u0645\u0629 and \u0628\u062e\u062a are mainly used in spoken dialects.<\/p>\n
