Do you like fish (\u0627\u0644\u0633\u0645\u0643)? Have you ever tried fish soup (\u0634\u0648\u0631\u0628\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0645\u0643)?<\/p>\n

There are many different ways of preparing this dish, but I will give you the recipe used in my home city Alexandria (\u0627\u0644\u0627\u0633\u0643\u0646\u062f\u0631\u064a\u0629).<\/p>\n

For fish soup, you will need one whole big fish. It has to be fresh and clean, i.e. not frozen for long and without any scales or guts. You do not need to remove the bones. You can use any type of fish you like. I tried it with salmon, sea bream or sea pass, and it always works fine.<\/p>\n

1-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Big fish (\u0633\u0645\u0643\u0629)<\/p>\n

2-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Chopped onion (\u0628\u0635\u0644)<\/p>\n

3-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cumin (\u0643\u0645\u0648\u0646)<\/p>\n

4-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Black pepper (\u0641\u0644\u0641\u0644 \u0627\u0633\u0648\u062f)<\/p>\n

5-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Salt (\u0645\u0644\u062d)<\/p>\n

6-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3 Cardamom pods (\u0627\u0644\u0647\u064a\u0644)<\/p>\n

7-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1 spoonful of oil (\u0632\u064a\u062a)<\/p>\n

Preparation:<\/p>\n

  1. Heat the oil and add the cardamom.<\/li>\n
  2. Add some water (be careful! Take the pan away from the heat first).<\/li>\n
  3. Add the chopped onion, salt, cumin and black pepper, and allow to boil for a short while<\/li>\n
  4. Add fish and allow to boil until fully cooked.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    This dish is served with rice.<\/p>\n

    I sometimes add cubed potatoes with the onion at the beginning because my kids do not like to eat the fish itself.<\/p>\n

    You can add drops of\u00a0lemon to the soup, and you can decorate it with fresh parsley when you serve it!<\/p>\n
