There are two main classifications of varieties of Arabic, and there are many sub classifications as well: The main classifications are <span>Classical Arabic (<span dir=\"rtl\">\/ <\/span><\/span><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0627\u0644\u0639\u0631\u0628\u064a\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0641\u0635\u062d\u0649<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\"> <\/span><span>al-\u2018arabeya al-fuS<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">h<\/span>a), i.e. the written and formal\u00a0varieties\u00a0and <span>Colloquial Arabic ( <span>al-\u2018ameya <\/span>\/ <\/span><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0627\u0644\u0639\u0627\u0645\u064a\u0629<\/span><span>)\u00a0 the spoken varieties.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\"><span>Classical Arabic (<span dir=\"rtl\">\/ <\/span><\/span><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0627\u0644\u0639\u0631\u0628\u064a\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0641\u0635\u062d\u0649<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\"> <\/span><span>al-\u2018arabeya al-fuS<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">h<\/span>a) has two subclassifications: Classical, which is the variety used in the Qur\u2019an and classical poetry and Modern\u00a0Standard Arabic<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\"><span> (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0627\u0644\u0639\u0631\u0628\u064a\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0639\u0627\u0635\u0631\u0629<\/span><span> \/ <\/span><span>al-\u2018arabeya al-mu\u2019aSera) which is the modern version of classical Arabic. It is used in newspapers, textbooks, etc. It is mainly a written variety, but it can be spoken in formal situations like conferences, speeches and reading the news. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\"><span>Colloquial Arabic (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0627\u0644\u0639\u0627\u0645\u064a\u0629<\/span><span>) is used by people in everyday life. It has many regional varieties that differ from one region to another and from one country to another within a given region. Colloquial dialects are roughly divided into Egyptian Arabic (spoken in Egypt and parts of neighbouring countries), Levantine Arabic (spoken in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and the Palestinian territories), and Maghreb Arabic (spoken in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">Learners of Arabic (both native and non-native)\u00a0usually learn Modern Standard Arabic.
