\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In today’s post, I am going to tell you about a famous Egyptian figure; Abbas Mahmoud Al-Aqqad \u0639\u0640\u0640\u0628\u0640\u0640\u0627\u0633 \u0645\u0640\u062d\u0640\u0640\u0645\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0648\u062f \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0639\u0640\u0640\u0642\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0627\u062f<\/strong> . Al-Aqqad was a famous writer \u0643\u0640\u0640\u0627\u062a\u0640\u0640\u0628<\/strong> , novelist \u0631\u0648\u0627\u0626\u0640\u0640\u064a<\/strong> , poet \u0634\u0640\u0640\u0627\u0639\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0631<\/strong> , journalist \u00a0\u0635\u0640\u0640\u062d\u0640\u0640\u0641\u0640\u0640\u064a<\/strong> and \u00a0critic \u0646\u0640\u0640\u0627\u0642\u0640\u0640\u062f<\/strong> .\u00a0 He was also a member of the Arab Academy \u0627\u0644\u0623\u0643\u0640\u0640\u0627\u062f\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0645\u0640\u0640\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0639\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0631\u0628\u0640\u0640\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0629<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Al-Aqqad was born in Aswan \u0623\u0633\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0648\u0627\u0646<\/strong> ; a city in Upper Egypt \u0635\u0640\u0640\u0639\u0640\u0640\u064a\u0640\u0640\u062f \u0645\u0640\u0635\u0640\u0640\u0631<\/strong> , in 1889. He had a little formal education \u062a\u0640\u0640\u0639\u0640\u0640\u0644\u0640\u0640\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0645<\/strong> as he completed only his elementary education. He used to spend all his pocket money on books. He used to read about everything; religion \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u062f\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0646<\/strong> , geography \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u062c\u0640\u0640\u063a\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0631\u0627\u0641\u0640\u0640\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0627<\/strong> , history \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u062a\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0627\u0631\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0640\u062e<\/strong> , and many other subjects. He was also, excellent at English and French.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Al-Aqqad wrote more than 100 books about philosophy \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0641\u0640\u0640\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0633\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0641\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0629<\/strong> , religion and poetry \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0634\u0640\u0640\u0639\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0631<\/strong> . He founded a poetry school with Ibrahim Al-Mazny and Abdel-Rahman Shokry called Al-Diwan \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u062f\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0648\u0627\u0646<\/strong> . His most famous books are Al-Abqariyat \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0639\u0640\u0640\u0628\u0640\u0640\u0642\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0631\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0627\u062a<\/strong> , Allah \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647<\/strong> and Sarah \u0633\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0627\u0631\u0629<\/strong> . Some of his books were translated into English, German, French,\u00a0 Russian, Urdu, and Persian. He was best known for his use of flowery and complicated prose \u0646\u0640\u0640\u062b\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0631<\/strong> style. He died in 1964 in Cairo.<\/p>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Al-Aqqad was honoured by the College of the Arabic Language in Al-Azhar when they gave his name to one of the halls in the college. \u00a0Also, his name was given to one of Cairo streets in Nasr City; Abbas Al-Aqqad Street.\u00a0 In the early 1980s, an Egyptian television series \u0645\u0640\u0640\u0633\u0640\u0640\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0633\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0644<\/strong> was produced about the life of Al-Aqqad, which was titled “The Giant” \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0639\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0645\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0644\u0627\u0642<\/strong> \/Al Imlaq\/. It starred the late Egyptian actor Mahmoud Mursi \u0645\u0640\u0640\u062d\u0640\u0640\u0645\u0640\u0640\u0648\u062f \u0645\u0640\u0640\u0631\u0633\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0649<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Al-Aqqad experienced two romantic relationships \u0639\u0640\u0640\u0644\u0627\u0642\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0627\u062a<\/strong> that deeply affected his life. The first was with a Christian Lebanese whom he called Sarah in his novel of the same name. The second was with the Egyptian famous actress \u0645\u0640\u0640\u0645\u0640\u0640\u062b\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0629<\/strong> ; Madiha Yousri \u0645\u0640\u0640\u062f\u064a\u0640\u0640\u062d\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0647 \u064a\u0640\u0640\u0633\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0631\u0649<\/strong> . He himself ended that latter relationship because of Madiha’s career. Al-Aqqad wrote a poetry book about his relationships called Cyclones of a Sunset.<\/p>\n
