It is one of Cairo\u2019s well-known modern landmarks \u0645\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0639\u0640\u0640\u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0650\u0640\u0640\u0645<\/b> and monuments \u0622\u062b\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0627\u0631<\/b> . The tower stands in the Zamalik District \u062d\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0649\u0652<\/b> \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0632\u0651\u064e\u0645\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0650\u0640\u0640\u0643<\/b> of Cairo which is on the Jazeerah Island \u062c\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0632\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0631\u0629<\/b> \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u062c\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0632\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0631\u0629<\/b> that is found in the River Nile. That is why the tower has also the name of Al-Jazeerah Tower \u0628\u0640\u0640\u064f\u0640\u0640\u0631\u062c<\/b> \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0640\u062c\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0632\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0631\u0629<\/b> \/Borj Al-Jazeerah\/.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 The Cairo Tower is 187 meters (614 feet) high and is built in concrete only. The construction work of the tower took about six years (1956 \u2013 1961). It has been the tallest structure in Egypt and North Africa for about fifty years and was surpassed only by the Hillbrow Tower in South Africa. It was designed by the Egyptian architect \u0645\u0640\u064f\u0640\u0640\u0647\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0646\u0640\u062f\u0650\u0633<\/b> \u0645\u0640\u0650\u0640\u0640\u0639\u0640\u0640\u0652\u0640\u0640\u0645\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0627\u0631\u0649<\/b> Naoum Shebib who was inspired by the Lotus flower \u0632\u0647\u0640\u0640\u0631\u0629<\/b> \u0627\u0644\u0640\u0644\u0640\u0640\u0651\u064f\u0640\u0640\u0648\u062a\u0640\u0640\u0633<\/b> that symbolizes the ancient Egyptian civilization. At the very top \u0642\u0640\u0640\u0650\u0640\u0640\u0645\u0640\u0640\u0651\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0629<\/b> of the tower, there is a panorama with telescopes; an open-air experience of Cairo where one can enjoy a refreshing view of the Pyramids of Giza, Sakkarah, the Citadel and the entire city. There is also a rotating restaurant \u0645\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0637\u0640\u0640\u0652\u0640\u0640\u0639\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0645<\/b> with a beautiful view of greater Cairo. The complete cycle \u062f\u0648\u0631\u0629<\/b> of the restaurant takes approximately 70 minutes.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the 1960s, the late Egyptian President; Gamal Abdel-Nasser announced that the funds \u062a\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0645\u0640\u0640\u0648\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0644<\/b> for the construction of the Cairo Tower came from the government \u062d\u0640\u0640\u064f\u0640\u0640\u0643\u0640\u0640\u064f\u0640\u0640\u0648\u0645\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0640\u0629<\/b> of the United States. Six million dollars were provided to Nasser as a personal gift \u0647\u0640\u0640\u0650\u0640\u0640\u0628\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0629 \/ \u0647\u0640\u0640\u064e\u0640\u0640\u0640\u062f\u064a\u0640\u0640\u0651\u0640\u0640\u0629 <\/b>. Nasser passed the whole sum of money to the Egyptian government to build the Tower.<\/p>\n
