It is a noun derived from the verb to refer to the action or activity implied in the verb, e.g. drive\/driving, eat\/eating, work\/working, etc. They can be used in similar contexts to the use of verbal nouns in English, e.g.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI like swimming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">(<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0623\u062d\u0628 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0628\u0627\u062d\u0629<\/span>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cMy favorite hobby is reading.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">(<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0647\u0648\u0627\u064a\u062a\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0641\u0636\u0644\u0629 \u0647\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0642\u0631\u0627\u0621\u0629<\/span>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Verb forms are extremely important for the formation of verbal nouns. Verbal nouns from form (II \u2013 X) follow certain patterns. Yet, there is no rule for deriving verbal nouns from form I. Although there is no rule to tell us how to derive a verbal noun from form I, there are some patterns that are common in this form, e.g.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">(<strong><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0641\u0639\u0644<\/span><\/strong>), e.g. (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0639\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0644<\/span>) \u201cworking\u201d, (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u062c\u064e\u0645\u0652\u0639<\/span>) \u201ccollecting\u201d, (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0632\u064e\u0631\u0652\u0639<\/span>) \u201cgrowing\u201d, (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0641\u064e\u062a\u0652\u062d<\/span>) \u201copening\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">(<strong><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0641\u0650\u0639\u0627\u0644\u0629<\/span><\/strong>), e.g. (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u062f\u0631\u0627\u0633\u0629<\/span>) \u201cstudying\u201d, (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u062a\u062c\u0627\u0631\u0629<\/span>) \u201ccommerce\u201d, (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0642\u0631\u0627\u0621\u0629<\/span>) \u201creading\u201d, (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0643\u062a\u0627\u0628\u0629<\/span>) \u201cwriting\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">(<strong><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0641\u0639\u0627\u0644<\/span><\/strong>), e.g. (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0646\u062c\u0627\u062d<\/span>) \u201csuccess\u201d, (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0630\u0647\u0627\u0628<\/span>) \u201cgoing\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">(<strong><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0641\u064e\u0639\u064a\u0644<\/span><\/strong>), e.g. (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0631\u062d\u064a\u0644<\/span>) \u201cleaving\u201d, (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0628\u0631\u064a\u0642<\/span>) \u201cglimmering\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">(<strong><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0641\u0639\u0648<\/span><\/strong><strong><span dir=\"rtl\">\u0644\u0629<\/span><\/strong>), e.g. (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0633\u0647\u0648\u0644\u0629<\/span>) \u201cease\u201d, (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0635\u0639\u0648\u0628\u0629<\/span>) \u201cdifficulty\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">These are only few of the patterns that can be used to make verbal nouns from form I verbs. Sometimes, there could be more than one verbal noun from the same verb. There are usually some differences between them in meaning or usage or both, e.g. from (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0635\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0639<\/span>) which means \u201cto make\u201d, we have 2 verbal nouns (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0635\u0650\u0646\u0627\u0639\u0629<\/span>) which means \u201cindustry\u201d and (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0635\u064f\u0646\u0652\u0639<\/span>) which means \u201cmaking\u201d; and from (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0632\u064e\u0631\u064e\u0639<\/span>) which means \u201cto plant\u201d, we have 2 verbal nouns (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0632\u0650\u0631\u0627\u0639\u0629<\/span>) which means \u201cagriculture\u201d and (<span dir=\"rtl\">\u0632\u064e\u0631\u0652\u0639<\/span>) which means \u201cplanting\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In the following posts, I\u00a0will explain the rules for forming verbal nouns from other verb forms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Verbal noun (\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0635\u062f\u0631) is a very important derivative in Arabic.
