Form II is always transitive, i.e. it must take an object at all times, so the sentence in which a form II verb is used must have a subject and an object, e.g.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0643\u0633\u0651\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0648\u0644\u062f \u0627\u0644\u0632\u062c\u0627\u062c.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>\u201cThe boy broke the glass.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0639\u0644\u0651\u0645\u0646\u064a \u0623\u0628\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0642\u0631\u0622\u0646.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>\u201cMy father taught me the Qur\u2019an.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Form V is always intransitive, i.e. it never takes an object, so the sentence in which a form V verb is used has only a subject, e.g.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u062a\u0643\u0633\u0651\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0632\u062c\u0627\u062c.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>\u201cThe glass broke.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u062a\u0639\u0644\u0651\u0645\u062a \u0627\u0644\u0642\u0631\u0622\u0646.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>\u201cI learned the Qur\u2019an.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Form V verbs have a range of meanings implied in them; some verbs imply that the action is done by the subject, e.g.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u062a\u0639\u0644\u0651\u0645<\/span><span> (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">learned<\/span><span>) = <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u062a\u0643\u0644\u0651\u0645<\/span><span> = (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">spoke<\/span><span>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Some verbs imply that the action is spontaneous, e.g.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u062a\u0643\u0633\u0651\u0631<\/span><span> = (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">broke<\/span><span>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u062a\u0637\u0648\u0651\u0631<\/span><span> = (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">developed\/evolved<\/span><span>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Some verbs imply that the subject is irrelevant or unknown, and in this case we translate it into passive in English, e.g.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u062a\u0634\u0631\u0651\u0641<\/span><span> = (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">was honored<\/span><span>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u062a\u0639\u0632\u0651\u0632<\/span><span> = (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">was strengthened<\/span><span>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: right;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this post, I explain the difference between 2 verb forms: form II (\u0641\u0639\u064e\u0651\u0644\u064e) and form V (\u062a\u0641\u0639\u064e\u0651\u0644\u064e).
