The theme of the expo that year was &#8220;Man and Nature, Marching into the 21st Century.&#8221; It&#8217;s said to have been built in perfect harmony with its natural surroundings &#8211; <strong>mountains<\/strong> (\u5c71 &#8211; sh\u0101n), <strong>water<\/strong> (\u6c34 &#8211; shu\u01d0), and\u00a0<strong>forest<\/strong> (\u68ee\u6797 &#8211; s\u0113n l\u00edn). It covers 218 hectares (around 540 acres) and it cultivates over 2,500 species of plants. We particularly enjoyed the Southeast Asian gardens\u00a0from Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With a full day at your disposal, you can easily check out both the Golden Temple and the gardens. Just make sure you have a good meal before going, bring plenty of water, and wear some comfortable shoes. If you&#8217;re going to do them both, it makes sense to go ahead and buy a combination ticket that includes a ride on the cable car. Alternatively, you could visit them both on separate days and spend more time at each if you&#8217;re able to do so.
