Today I wanted to \u8fc7\u5173<\/strong> (cross the border), and so I hopped on the usual \u73ed\u8f66<\/strong> (shuttle bus) to the border station.\u00a0 There I noticed a sign saying that you couldn’t carry more than\u00a0 2000\u652f cigarettes.\u00a0 For purchasing bus tickets into the city, you can use \u516b\u8fbe\u901a<\/strong> (octopus card) which is similar to Beijing’s \u4e00\u5361\u901a<\/strong> (yikatong stored-value card).\u00a0 Once you’re through the \u53e3\u5cb8<\/strong> (port) and have nothing to \u7533\u62a5<\/strong> (declare), you’re pretty much in the clear.\u00a0 I haven’t yet noticed stronger border controls due to \u56fd\u5e86<\/strong> (national founding holiday) but we’ll see what happens as October approaches.\u00a0 In the meantime, I’m enjoying my new \u4e00\u5361\u53cc\u53f7<\/strong> (1 card 2 numbers) phone which switches between sides of the border so I can’t be charged for \u6f2b\u6e38<\/strong> (roaming).
