One of the better temples to visit on a day trip outside of the city is the <strong>Bamboo Temple<\/strong> (\u7b47\u7af9\u5bfa &#8211; qi\u00f3ng zh\u00fa s\u00ec). This ancient Buddhist temple has a fascinating story behind it and is a beautiful place to explore. Another great option is <strong>Xuning Temple<\/strong> (\u865a\u5b81\u5bfa \u2013 x\u016b n\u00edng s\u00ec).\u00a0This stunning temple can be found on Kunming\u2019s \u201c<strong>Long Insect Mountain<\/strong>\u201d (\u957f\u866b\u5c71 \u2013 ch\u00e1ng chong sh\u0101n). It has been there for over 700 years and is well worth the short hike to get to. Judging by the modest front gate, it doesn\u2019t seem like much. This is a great place to get out of the concrete jungle, breathe the fresh air, and enjoy exploring an ancient Taoist temple inside a huge park.\u00a0The Golden Temple Park is a lovely, peaceful place to spend a few hours. Be sure to get there early so you can properly explore the entire grounds. The theme of the expo that year was \u201cMan and Nature, Marching into the 21st Century.\u201d It\u2019s said to have been built in perfect harmony with its natural surroundings \u2013\u00a0<strong>mountains<\/strong>\u00a0(\u5c71 \u2013 sh\u0101n),\u00a0<strong>water<\/strong>\u00a0(\u6c34 \u2013 shu\u01d0), and\u00a0<strong>forest\u00a0<\/strong>(\u68ee\u6797 \u2013 s\u0113n l\u00edn). It covers 218 hectares (around 540 acres) and it cultivates over 2,500 species of plants. Once you&#8217;re ready to move on from the city, you&#8217;ve got tons of options for further exploration of Yunnan. Head up to Dali for some cycling and hiking, explore the beautiful ancient town of Lijiang, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gratefulgypsies.com\/hiking-tiger-leaping-gorge\/\">hike Tiger Leaping Gorge<\/a>, take part in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/chinese\/dai-new-year-in-yunnan-part-three\/\">world&#8217;s biggest water fight<\/a> down in Xishuangbanna, and so much more. There are lots of beautiful places to visit in China, but it&#8217;s really hard to top Yunnan.
