It is celebrated every year on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, which falls on June 7 in 2019.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u7aef\u5348\u8282\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e2a\u91cd\u5927\u8282\u65e5\u4e3e\u56fd\u540c\u5e86\u3002<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Du\u0101n w\u01d4 ji\u00e9, zh\u00e8 ge zh\u00f2ng d\u00e0 ji\u00e9 r\u00ec j\u01d4 gu\u00f3 t\u00f3ng q\u00ecng.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The whole nation celebrates this significant holiday of the Dragon Boat Festival. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many customs (\u4e60\u4fd7x\u00ed s\u00fa) are observed during this holiday. Dragon boat racing (\u8d5b\u9f99\u821fs\u00e0i l\u00f3ng zh\u014du) is the main custom associated with the festival. As legend has it, the patriotic poet and statesman Qu Yuan, who lived during the\u00a0Warring States period\u00a0of ancient China, was devastated by the invasion of an enemy army to his motherland. On the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, he threw\u00a0himself\u00a0into the Miluo\u00a0river (\u6295\u6c5ft\u00f3u ji\u0101ng).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u8d5b\u9f99\u821f\u662f\u4e2d\u56fd\u7aef\u5348\u8282\u7684\u4e60\u4fd7\u4e4b\u4e00\u3002<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 S\u00e0i l\u00f3ng zh\u014du sh\u00ec zh\u014dng gu\u00f3 du\u0101n w\u01d4 ji\u00e9 de x\u00ed s\u00fa zh\u012b y\u012b.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dagon boat racing is one of China\u2019s Dragon Boat Festival customs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many people rushed into the river. They rowed (\u5212\u8239hu\u00e1 chu\u00e1n) their boats, trying to save (\u62ef\u6551zh\u011bng ji\u00f9) him or at least salvage (\u6253\u635ed\u01ce l\u0101o) his body. They paddled out to the river and drummed on their boats to scare off the fish and the evil spirits.\u00a0Nowadays, the annual main event of \u4e94\u6708\u521d\u4e94 (w\u01d4 yu\u00e8 ch\u016b w\u01d4, the 5th day of the 5th lunar month) is boat racing (\u821f\u7ade\u6e21zh\u014du j\u00ecng d\u00f9) in commemoration of Qu Yuan. All around China, crowds gather around lakes to cheer on the teams, and to enjoy the festive atmosphere.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u9f99\u821f\u7ade\u6e21\u4e60\u4fd7\u662f\u4e3a\u4e86\u7eaa\u5ff5\u5c48\u539f\u3002<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 L\u00f3ng zh\u014du j\u00ecng d\u00f9 x\u00ed s\u00fa sh\u00ec w\u00e8i le j\u00ec ni\u00e0n q\u016b yu\u00e1n.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The custom of dragon boat racing is to commemorate Qu Yuan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another custom to commemorate (\u7eaa\u5ff5j\u00ec ni\u00e0n) Qu Yuan is food related custom (\u98df\u4fd7sh\u00ed s\u00fa). After failing to save Qu Yuan or find his body (\u5c38\u4f53sh\u012b t\u01d0), the fishermen of Miluo river dropped food into the water. They wrapped the food with leaves and tied it with a silk thread so it won\u2019t be eaten by the dragon or the fish. This legend shaped the traditional food of the Dragon Boat Festival \u2013 the \u7cbd\u5b50 (z\u00f2ng zi). The Zongzi is\u00a0glutinous rice\u00a0stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in\u00a0bamboo\u00a0leaves. There are variety of fillings: with meat, or vegetarian, some are sweeter and some are less. During the Dragon Boat Festival public activities of making Zongzi (\u5305\u7cbd\u5b50b\u0101o z\u00f2ng zi) are common.
