The red color background symbolizes the communist revolution. The five stars and their relationship represents the unity of the Chinese people. The big star (\u5927\u661f d\u00e0 x\u012bng) symbolizes the Communist Party of China, while the four smaller stars (\u5c0f\u661f xi\u01ceo x\u012bng) surrounding it symbolize the four social classes \u2013 the working class, the peasantry, the urban petite bourgeoisie, and the national bourgeoisie \u2013 mentioned in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/On_the_People%27s_Democratic_Dictatorship\">Mao\u2019s speech<\/a> from 1949.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/fotw.info\/flags\/cn_law.html\">Law of the People\u2019s Republic of China on the National Flag<\/a> schools shall display the National Flag daily. And indeed, Chinese schools throughout the country hold raising the flag ceremonies (\u5347\u65d7\u4eea\u5f0f sh\u0113ng q\u00ed y\u00ed sh\u00ec) every morning. Although it performed very early \u2013 before 5 AM during June! \u2013 it attracts large crowds and is well worth the early rise.
