There are different ways to learn Chinese: you can watch TV, you can listen to the radio; you can use a mobile phone and a computer. Nowadays, there are many online learning resources. For me, however, the simplest is enough. The learning method that suits me is reading Chinese books. An ancient Chinese saying says to open a book is beneficial. It means reading has a profit. I think it’s true. Any Chinese textbook I open and read, I learn new words. Improving vocabulary is one of the purposes of my reading. The more I read, the more I expand my vocabulary. When I encounter a character I haven’t learn yet, or a word I am not familiar with, I check the dictionary. Looking up the dictionary is a bit slow, you need to determine the radical of the character, count the strokes, and find it in the main text. After a thorough digging for the word, I will remember its meaning. If you don’t have time, and you want to quickly memorize a lot of words, you can use our Mandarin Chinese Word of the Day.
