In my previous post, I talked about my experience attending an NFL game.\u00a0 A great way to understand the people of a country is to understand its sports.\u00a0 For China, a large headache is the organization jokingly referred to as \u56fd\u732a<\/strong> (national pig), which is short for \u56fd\u8db3<\/strong>(the national soccer team)- the \u4e2d\u56fd\u56fd\u5bb6\u8db3\u7403\u961f<\/strong> ([official name of] the China National Soccer Team). \u00a0 One joke passed around the internet is that the team’s losses have many causes, such as the day’s weather being too hot, the day’s weather being too cold, and the day’s temperature being perfect, because then their \u5bf9\u624b<\/strong> (opponent) would not have any \u969c\u788d<\/strong> (challenges). \u00a0 To be sure, the performance of this team is a \u60b2\u5267<\/strong> (tragedy) for Chinese sports fans.\u00a0 Recently, the team made news when it tied \u4e1c\u5e1d\u6c76<\/strong> (East Timor).\u00a0 I find it hard to believe that the team with the highest \u91d1\u724c\u603b\u6570 <\/strong>(total Gold Medal count) during last year’s Olympic Games cannot even qualify for the first round of the \u4e16\u754c\u676f<\/strong> (world cup).<\/p>\n
