{"id":181,"date":"2010-01-20T08:30:50","date_gmt":"2010-01-20T12:30:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/chinese\/?p=181"},"modified":"2010-01-20T08:30:50","modified_gmt":"2010-01-20T12:30:50","slug":"recent-history-in-vietnam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/chinese\/recent-history-in-vietnam\/","title":{"rendered":"Recent History in Vietnam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"short_text\"><span title=\"vietnam war\">Since being in Vietnam, I have learned a lot about the history about the <strong>\u8d8a\u5357\u6218\u4e89 <\/strong>(Vietnam War) from visiting the <\/span><span title=\"demilitarized zone\"><strong>\u975e\u519b\u4e8b\u533a <\/strong>(De-militarized zone) accompanied by a former combat <\/span><span title=\"interpreter\"><strong>\u7ffb\u8bd1 <\/strong>(interpreter) from the time.\u00a0 When we went to the former border between north and south, he pointed out that the <\/span><span title=\"communist party\"><strong>\u5171\u4ea7\u515a<\/strong> (Communist Party) had a <\/span><span title=\"flagpole\"><strong>\u65d7\u6746<\/strong> (flagpole) as well as a <\/span><span title=\"remembrance day\"><strong>\u7eaa\u5ff5\u65e5<\/strong> (remembrance day) for the fallen north soldiers, but not those of the south.\u00a0 The only time we were able to see the flag of the southern Vietnamese army was when we looked at a small picture visible in the <\/span><span title=\"museum\"><strong>\u535a\u7269\u9986 <\/strong>(museum).\u00a0 Many people who took up arms from the south are still on a <\/span><\/span><span class=\"short_text\"><span title=\"blacklist\"><strong>\u9ed1\u540d\u5355 <\/strong>(blacklist) and neither they nor their children can work for the government.\u00a0 To learn more about the north, I went with my friend to visit some <\/span><span title=\"tunnel\"><strong>\u96a7\u9053<\/strong> (tunnels) dug by the northern army.\u00a0 These tunnels were close to the sea, but surprisingly they were able to dig a <\/span><strong><span title=\"water well\">\u6c34\u4e95<\/span><\/strong><span title=\"water well\"> (well) holding only fresh water.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"short_text\"><span title=\"vietnam war\">\u8d8a\u5357\u6218\u4e89 yue4nan2zhan4zheng1 &#8211;
