There are many ways to describe people using Chinese.\u00a0 Some ways use 4-character idioms, and in other cases you can simply use 2-word phrases.\u00a0 Here are a couple of my favorites which I have encountered during my time thus far in China.\u00a0 A person who doesn’t keep promises very well is referred to as being \u4e0d\u9760\u8c31<\/strong>.\u00a0 A person who is somewhat restrained in public company is referred to as \u6536\u655b<\/strong>.\u00a0 A conservative person is referred to as being \u4fdd\u5b88<\/strong>\uff0c whereas a more open or liberal person is referred to as being \u5f00\u653e<\/strong>.\u00a0 However, it is possible to become too open and freewheeling- a person like this is usually referred to as being \u968f\u4fbf<\/strong>.\u00a0 A person who is able to tell how to treat people is said to \u6709\u5fc3\u773c<\/strong>.\u00a0 Finally, a person who is very closed-off to the world and has very limited social contact is said to be \u81ea\u95ed<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you know this word, then you can also describe a person with \u81ea\u95ed\u75c7<\/strong>(autism).<\/p>\n

\u6536\u655b shou1lian3 – restrained in public, reserved.
\n\u9760\u8c31 kao4pu3 – keeping promises.
\n\u4fdd\u5b88 bao2shou3 – conservative
\n\u5f00\u653e kai1fang4 – liberal
\n\u968f\u4fbf sui2bian4 – freewheeling, careless
\n\u6709\u5fc3\u773c you3xin1yan3 – able to read how to treat people
\n\u81ea\u95ed zi4bi4 – closed-off, shut off from the world
