Today is March 8, which means it’s \u56fd\u9645\u5987\u5973\u8282<\/strong> (International Women’s Day).\u00a0 Don’t forget to send a message to your \u5973\u6027<\/strong> (female) friends.\u00a0 Incidentally, \u4e09\u516b<\/strong> (literally – “3 8” means gossipy\/b*&%^) is a term used for referring to women which has two meanings- neither one is very flattering.\u00a0 \u5973\u4eba\u624b\u6491\u534a\u8fb9\u5929<\/strong> (women hold up half the sky) is the famous saying favored by Mao Zedong.\u00a0 \u4e09\u4e2a\u5973\u4eba\u4e00\u53f0\u620f <\/strong>(essentially – there is drama if there are 3 women in the same place)\u00a0 is another common Chinese saying.\u00a0 Let’s take a look at some of the words that have a female character radical in them.\u00a0 \u597d<\/strong> (good) is a good one, as it has a mother and child together.\u00a0 \u5b89<\/strong> (peace) is another good example, as a woman is under a roof.\u00a0 My next post may have a little more to say about Visas, as it’s about that time again!<\/p>\n
