To help you make the most of those possibilities, we\u2019re tapping the collective expertise and creativity of the CL-150 instructor community in a series of Lesson Authoring tips. <strong>This time, let\u2019s cover one of our newest activities: Table.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>What is the Table activity?<\/h1>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-313\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2019\/10\/LessonGin-Table-Grammar-1.gif\" alt=\"CL-150 Lesson Authoring Table Activity\" width=\"600\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As you might expect, Table let\u2019s you make\u2026 tables! You can create a table from scratch or upload a table from an Excel spreadsheet or Word doc. Formatting tools allow you to edit text color and cell color, and formatting will carry over from Excel or Word if importing.<\/p>\n<p>Table allows you to blank out certain cells (or parts of cells!) that the learner must then fill in. The possibilities are vast if you\u2019re willing to think outside the table.<\/p>\n<p><em>Need a reminder of how to set up Table? Watch this <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/288566838\"><em>video<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h1>How are instructors using Table?<\/h1>\n<h2>Grammar Practice<\/h2>\n<p>When you think of tables, you probably think of grammar\u2014indeed that is the most common application of Table. Below is an example of using Table to demonstrate verb-adjective agreement. Learners must fill in the corresponding noun and adjective to match the translation provided in the first column.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-314\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2019\/10\/LessonGin-Table-Grammar-2.gif\" alt=\"CL-150 Lesson Authoring Table Activity\" width=\"600\" height=\"326\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Conversation Practice<\/h2>\n<p>Table can be used to facilitate conversation-based lessons. Ask learners to role play one of the speakers and fill in the blanks with their portion of the conversation, as seen below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-316\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2019\/10\/LessonGin-Table-Conversation-Practice.gif\" alt=\"CL-150 Lesson Authoring Table Activity\" width=\"600\" height=\"327\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Cultural Information Practice<\/h2>\n<p>Table can be used to present or check comprehension of cultural information. In the example below, learners are presented with several scenarios and must fill in the table comparing culturally appropriate behavior in America vs. Iran.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-317\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2019\/10\/LessonGin-Table-Culture-2.gif\" alt=\"CL-150 Lesson Authoring Table Activity\" width=\"600\" height=\"328\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Fill in the Blank<\/h2>\n<p>Table allows you not only to blank out certain cells, but certain words within a single cell.
