To start, the unit\u2019s CLPM is setting goals in the CL-150 that align directly to the goals each linguist identifies in his or her Individual Language Training Program. The CLPM explained why he finds this approach motivating for his linguists:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cIt makes their ILTP more than just a piece of paper\u2014it places the goal front and center every time they log in.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_737\" style=\"width: 965px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter post-item__attachment\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-737\" class=\"wp-image-737 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/09\/cl-150-goals-panel.jpg\" alt=\"cl-150 learning goals\" width=\"955\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/09\/cl-150-goals-panel.jpg 955w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/09\/cl-150-goals-panel-350x153.jpg 350w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/09\/cl-150-goals-panel-768x335.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 955px) 100vw, 955px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-737\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Linguists see their required weekly or monthly goal at the top of their learning dashboard. They can also set a personal goal for daily learning time to keep them coming back, day after day.<\/p><\/div><\/blockquote>\n<p>To meet their weekly or monthly goal, the unit\u2019s linguists are encouraged to complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transparent.com\/government\/cohorts.html\">weekly Cohort lessons<\/a> published at their level, which can be accessed anytime from virtually any device. The lessons are based on authentic materials of interest to USG linguists covering many aspects of proficiency, performance, content, and ancillary Final Learning Objectives (FLOs).<\/p>\n<p>Cohort lessons can take <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/2020\/08\/19\/cl-150-cohort-lessons-your-virtual-language-buffet\/\">up to 2 hours<\/a> to complete, but the unit\u2019s CLPM also allows linguists to <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/2017\/07\/12\/new-in-reporting-self-reporting\/\">self-report<\/a> learning time completed outside the CL-150 Platform\u2014which is then counted towards their goals and is captured within reports.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_732\" style=\"width: 849px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter post-item__attachment\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-732\" class=\"wp-image-732\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/09\/self-reporting-time-from-goals-1024x354.png\" alt=\"cl-150 self reporting\" width=\"839\" height=\"290\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/09\/self-reporting-time-from-goals-1024x354.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/09\/self-reporting-time-from-goals-350x121.png 350w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/09\/self-reporting-time-from-goals-768x266.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/09\/self-reporting-time-from-goals.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 839px) 100vw, 839px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-732\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Not all learning time happens in the CL-150, but the unit\u2019s program managers are maintaining visibility by requiring linguists to self-report that time, so it is captured in reports.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>To improve visibility while remote, the CLPM and mentors are organizing linguists into <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/cl-150-bulletin\/2020\/02\/20\/cl-150-platform-reporting-groups-just-got-a-lot-better\/\">reporting groups<\/a>, where they can monitor learning data in real time and run more detailed reports.
