Denne uge<\/b> [DENNeh oo] (this week) I\u2019d like to share with you a fabulous reklame<\/b> (commercial) that\u2019s currently making a lot of people laugh in danske biografer<\/b> (Danish cinemas). It\u2019s called Passageren<\/b> [passaSHARE-unh] (The Passenger) or Bussen 2<\/b> [boosn TOH] (The Bus 2), as it\u2019s the sequel to the 2012 hit commercial Bussen<\/b>. In case you haven\u2019t seen it yet, slap af<\/b> (relax) and take a look:<\/p>\n

A little bit about the cultural background for this film<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n

Danmark<\/b> is often associated with cykler<\/b><\/a> (bicycles). In the new millennium, however, privatbilisme<\/b> (\u201dprivate motoring\u201d) has become a problem. The country is \u201dfladt som en pandekage<\/b>\u201d (flat as a pancake), as the saying goes, and it\u2019s very easy to roll out new veje<\/b> (roads) and motorveje<\/b> (motorways, freeways). Furthermore, many Danes are quite velhavende <\/b>(well-to-do) <\/b>and can afford to have their own bil<\/b> [beel] (car), even in small families\u2026 You do the math! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Many politikere<\/b> (politicians) and other people dr\u00f8mmer om<\/b> (dream about) a country where more people tager cyklen<\/b> (\u201dtake\u201d the bike) or benytter kollektiv transport<\/b> (peruse \u201dpublic transport\u201d, such as busses or trains). This would be a country with less forurening<\/b> (pollution), and maybe more strangers would talk to each other and become venner<\/b>\u00a0(friends) \u2013 as you can see in the film! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

\u201dPassageren\u201d <\/b>was made by Midttrafik (\u201dMiddle Traffic\u201d), the main bus<\/b> [booss] (bus) company in Midtjylland (Central Jutland). Their aim, of course, is to make more people take their busser<\/b> to places like Lystrup<\/b> \u2013 a suburb to \u00c5rhus\/Aarhus<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The film also jokes about the feeling many Danes have of being kedelig<\/b> (dull or trivial), living lives that are just as organized and \u201ddry\u201d as the stereotypcial madpakke<\/b> (packed lunch) of rugbr\u00f8d med spegep\u00f8lse <\/b>(rye bread with salami). If you buy a bus ticket, however, you can have an interesting personlighed<\/b> (personality), cool sko<\/b> (shoes) and an exotic k\u00e6reste<\/b> (girlfriend) who thinks your packed lunch is a gourmetmadpakke<\/b>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\"\"
