Very often, you also learn something about <b>kulturen<\/b> (the culture). This is particularly true in <b>Danmark<\/b>, I think. Ads here very often use <b>humor <\/b>or <b>ironi<\/b> or <b>ordspil <\/b>(word-play) \u2013 remember the movie about <b>buspassageren<\/b> (the bus <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/2015\/03\/14\/the-coolest-bus-commercial-in-denmark\/\">passenger<\/a>)?<\/p>\n<p>The following three <b>plakater <\/b>(posters) were hanging at a <b>baneg\u00e5rd<\/b> (train station). I think they illustrate <b>danskhed <\/b>(Danishness) in a really nice way. The product they\u2019re trying <b>at s\u00e6lge <\/b>(to sell) is <b>kylling <\/b>(chicken) from the firm <b>Dansk Kylling<\/b>. Many Danes don\u2019t trust the quality of <b>k\u00f8d<\/b> (meat) from other <b>EU-lande<\/b> (EU countries), so the name and the ads pander a bit to that fear. Of course, you can also look positively at it: People may want to support local <b>landm\u00e6nd<\/b> (farmers). There is even the issue of <b>salmonella<\/b>, a grisly virus that keeps popping up in food stuff like eggs and chicken. If it\u2019s <b>dansk<\/b> it must be safe, that seems to be the message! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><b>Hvordan ved man om en kylling er dansk?<\/b> (How do you know if a chicken is Danish?)<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2015\/05\/IMG_2553.jpg\" aria-label=\"IMG 2553 618x1024\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1226 \"  alt=\"IMG_2553\" width=\"447\" height=\"831\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2015\/05\/IMG_2553-618x1024.jpg\"><\/a>1.<\/b> <b>Tjek om den \u00e5bner d\u00f8ren i badesandaler. <\/b>(See if it opens the door wearing slippers.) Danes are notorious for their informality; in fact a survey once found the Danes to be the most casually dressed people in the EU!<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2015\/05\/IMG_2551.jpg\" aria-label=\"IMG 2551 713x1024\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-1227 aligncenter\"  alt=\"IMG_2551\" width=\"414\" height=\"755\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2015\/05\/IMG_2551-713x1024.jpg\"><\/a>1. The thing is, however, that nowadays most Danes live really nice lives and have only small \u201dfirst-world problems\u201d. So, people go to the \u201dsocialist day\u201d of May 1st to enjoy themselves and drink <b>\u00f8l<\/b>\u2026<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2015\/05\/IMG_2552.jpg\" aria-label=\"IMG 2552 694x1024\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-1228 aligncenter\"  alt=\"IMG_2552\" width=\"473\" height=\"839\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2015\/05\/IMG_2552-694x1024.jpg\"><\/a>1. Sp\u00f8rg hvor den var den 26. juni 1992.<\/b> (Ask where it was on June 26th, 1992.) As every <b>fodboldfan <\/b>(football\/soccer fan) knows, this was the date when Denmark beat <b>Tyskland <\/b>(Germany), becoming European Football Champion for the first time ever. The supporter, of course, is wearing a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/2014\/01\/30\/whats-in-a-flag\/\"><strong>klaphat<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Okay, when you\u2019re done with step 1., the ad asks you to<\/p>\n<p><b>2.
