If the melody is really nice, the words will just etch themselves into your brain! \ud83d\ude42 Forget about rules of grammar, forget about rules of pronunciation, just take it easy and sing along!<\/p>\n<p>Here are two <b>danske julesange<\/b> (Danish Christmas songs or carols) for you two sing along. Generally, Danes love to sing, and on <b>juleaften <\/b>(Christmas Eve, Dec. 24th) many families even dance around <b>juletr\u00e6et <\/b>while singing songs like these!<\/p>\n<p><i>A note about religion<\/i>: <b>Jul<\/b> is a <b>kristen h\u00f8jtid<\/b> (Christian feast) in Denmark, celebrating the birth of Jesus. But it is also an old Viking feast, celebrating the birth of the Light. So, even Danes who are not very Christian (usually!) take part in <b>julen<\/b>, decorating their homes with <b><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/2014\/12\/25\/sprites-of-christmas\/\">nisser<\/a><\/b> etc. Since Transparent Language is not about preaching, I\u2019ve included one Christian Xmas song and one not-so-Christian one. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gl\u00e6delig jul!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dejlig er jorden\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZW3gte8kvo4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; lidt julegodter,&#8221;<br \/>\nog de danser, danser rundt i ring.<\/p>\n<p>Men nissefar han truer med sin store ske:<br \/>\n&#8220;Vil I nu se at kom&#8217; af sted,<br \/>\nfor jeg vil ha&#8217; min julegr\u00f8d i ro og fred,<br \/>\nog ingen, ingen vil jeg dele med.&#8221;<br \/>\nMen rotterne de hopper, og de danser,<br \/>\nog de svinser, og de svanser,<br \/>\nde kikker efter gr\u00f8den, og de standser,<br \/>\nog de st\u00e5r om nissen t\u00e6t i ring.<\/p>\n<p>Men nissefar han er en lille hidsigprop,<br \/>\nog med sin krop han g\u00f8r et hop:<br \/>\n&#8220;Jeg henter katten, hvis I ikke holder op,<br \/>\nn\u00e5r katten kommer, skal det nok bli&#8217; stop.&#8221;<br \/>\nS\u00e5 bliver alle rotterne s\u00e5 bange,<br \/>\n\u00e5h, s\u00e5 bange, \u00e5h, s\u00e5 bange,<br \/>\nde vender sig og danser et par gange,<br \/>\nog en, to, tre, s\u00e5 er de v\u00e6k!<\/td>\n<td><em><em>In the loft the Nisse is siting with his Christmas porridge,<br \/>\nhis Christmas porridge, so good and sweet,<br \/>\nhe\u2019s nodding, and he\u2019s eating, and he is so happy<br \/>\nsince Christmas porridge is his best food.<br \/>\nBut all around the small rats are standing,<br \/>\nand they\u2019re glancing, and they\u2019re glancing:<br \/>\n\u201dWe really want to have som Christmas candy,\u201d<br \/>\nand they\u2019re dancing, dancing in a round.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But Nisse Dad he\u2019s threatening with his big spoon:<\/em><br \/>\n<em> \u201dYou better make sure to get away,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> because I want my Christmas porridge for myself in peace,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and with nobody, nobody do I want to share.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em> But the rats they\u2019re hopping, they\u2019re dancing,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and they\u2019re flouncing, and they\u2019re \u201dflancing\u201d,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> they\u2019re looking at the porridge, and they\u2019re stopping,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and they stand closely around the Nisse in a round.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But Nisse Dad he is a little angry chap,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and with his body he makes a jump:<\/em><br \/>\n<em> \u201dI\u2019ll fetch the cat if you guys don\u2019t stop,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> when the cat comes, this will surely end.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Then all the rats are getting so scared,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> oh, so scared, oh, so scared,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> they turn around and dance a couple of times,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and one, two, three, they\u2019re gone!<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When learning languages, it\u2019s a really good idea to SING!
