Of course, people in cities <b>g\u00e5r mere i byen <\/b>(go out more; literally: \u201dgo more in the city\u201d). Still, even in Copenhagen the answer to your nagging question <b>Hvor <i>er<\/i> alle?<\/b> (Where <i>are<\/i> all the people?) \u2026 might be <b>hjemme<\/b> [yemmeh] (at home)! After all, Danes are masters of cosy candlelight <b>hygge<\/b>\u2026 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Okay, all you learners out there, how does your dictionary translate the Danish verb <b>at BO<\/b>? It\u2019s less flimsy than \u201dto stay\u201d (as in: <i>please stay a little longer<\/i>) and more linked to places than \u201dto live\u201d. I mean, <b>at leve<\/b> (to live) has something to do with your heart and your breathing, as in <b>Man lever kun \u00e9n gang<\/b> (YOLO). For example, <b>Bo Spellerberg<\/b> is a handball player. And <b>BO<\/b> is even an ending denoting someone who <b>bor<\/b> somewhere, as in <b>bybo<\/b> \u2013 a man or woman living in a <b>by<\/b> (city, town).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The guy or girl next door is your <i>neighbour <\/i>in English<i> \u2013<\/i> <b>nabo<\/b> [NAA-boh] in Danish. But Danish also has<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>genbo<\/b> \u2013 opposite neighbour<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>overbo <\/b>\u2013 person living in the flat above<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>underbo<\/b> \u2013 person living in the flat below<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Now, how do you get a chance to speak Danish with those people who hide away in their <b>bolig<\/b> (dwelling)? \ud83d\ude42 Well, when the sun does shine, there is a chance they\u2019ll get outside.
