Life is full of anledninger<\/b> (opportunities, occasions) to fejre<\/b> (celebrate) \u2013 and also sometimes to s\u00f8rge<\/b> [serw-eh] (mourn). Here\u2019s a small guide to help you choose some kind words for your Danish friends\u2019 great life events.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start with the sad part: When somebody has lost a loved one, a decent way of showing your respect would be: Jeg\/Vi kondolerer. <\/b>(My\/Our condolences.)<\/p>\n

In more joyful situations, some variation of tillykke med<\/b> (congratulations with, literally \u201dto-luck with\u201d) will take you far. Let\u2019s say a new baby is born. If the context is clear, you could perhaps go with a short: Tillykke!<\/b> (Congratulations!) But I guess it\u2019s a good idea to add a little more information, especially on a lyk\u00f8nskningskort<\/b> (congratulations card):<\/p>\n
