For most <b>danskere<\/b> (Danes), that means <b>ferie<\/b> (vacation). Fortunately, in a <b>hyggelig<\/b> country like <b>Danmark<\/b>, there\u2019s always a lot to do \u2013 especially when <b>solen skinner<\/b> (the sun is shining)! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Kan du li\u2019 at bade? <\/b>(Do you like bathing?) <b>Find badet\u00f8jet frem<\/b> (find your bathing clothes) and join <b>vennerne<\/b> (your friends, literally \u201dthe friends\u201d) <b>p\u00e5 stranden<\/b> (at the beach). No place in Denmark is more than 100 km (62 miles) away from <b>havet<\/b> (the sea), and many inland locations have nice <b>s\u00f8er<\/b> (lakes), so there\u2019s really a lot of opportunities to swim (<b>at sv\u00f8mme<\/b>) \u2013 og just <b>tage solbad<\/b> (take a sun bath). <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/2012\/07\/25\/going-on-holiday\/\">Remember to bring<\/a> a <b>h\u00e5ndkl\u00e6de <\/b>(towel) to lie on, <b>solbriller<\/b> (sunglasses) and <b>rigeligt med solcreme<\/b> (plenty of sunscreen). And maybe a <b>bold<\/b> [bolt] (ball) or a <b>frisbee<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Mange danskere holder af at sejle<\/b> (many Danes like to sail). Of course, if you don\u2019t have your own <b>b\u00e5d<\/b> (boat), you really have to use your Danish skills in order to get a ride! \ud83d\ude42 Renting your own <b>kajak<\/b> or <b>kano<\/b> is very often possible, though \u2013 for a great experience, go on a rowing trip on the <b>Guden\u00e5en<\/b> river\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Sommerferien er festivaltid<\/b> (the summer holidays are festival time). From the huge <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/2015\/07\/19\/festival-fun\/\"><b>Roskilde Festival<\/b><\/a> to small gatherings on tiny islands, the hot summer air is filled with the sounds of music. People drink <b>\u00f8l<\/b> (beer) and feel happy and alive <b>i solen<\/b> (in the sun). If you\u2019re more of the quiet type, cultural Denmark has got plenty to offer, too, from <b>kunstudstillinger <\/b>(art exhibits) to guided tours in castles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Perhaps you really just want to <b>sidde i skyggen og slappe af<\/b> (sit in the shadow and relax), below a sculpture in <b>Legoland<\/b> or a <b>b\u00f8getr\u00e6<\/b> (beech tree) in <b>skoven<\/b> (the forest). Eat some <b>jordb\u00e6r<\/b> (strawberries) or an <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/2017\/03\/31\/enter-the-danish-ice-age\/\"><b>is<\/b><\/a> [ees] (icecream) and enjoy the moment.
