The sounds, which Danish (!) poet Benny Andersen compared to <strong>havregr\u00f8d i kog<\/strong> (boiling oatmeal porridge). 2. The Danish humour and culture, which is embedded in the language. Where else in the world can you say that something costs \u201da dog\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/2016\/10\/19\/danish-is-a-zoo\/\"><strong>en hund<\/strong><\/a>) when you actually mean it costs 100 (<strong>hundrede<\/strong>) Kroner?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Det bl\u00e6ser en halv pelikan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dIt blows half a pelicane.\u201d = It is really windy!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Han tager lige en morfar.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dHe\u2019s just grabbing a granddad.\u201d = He\u2019s taking a nap.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Der er ingen ko p\u00e5 isen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dThere\u2019s no cow on the ice.\u201d = Everything is okay.\/There are no problems at the moment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stik lige en finger i jorden.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dJust put a finger into the earth.\u201d = Calm down.\/Get back to earth. (Said to someone who is seen as too \u201dairy\u201d or pretentious.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Klap (lige) hesten.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201d(Just) pat the horse.\u201d = Calm down.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Han skal ikke komme her og spille kong Gulerod.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dHe shouldn\u2019t come here and play King Carrot.\u201d = He shouldn\u2019t come here and act like he\u2019s better than us\/other people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>P\u00e5 Lars Tyndskids mark.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dIn the field of Lars Diarrhea.\u201d = In the middle of nowhere.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hun var ude og svinge tr\u00e6benet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dShe was out swinging the wooden leg.\u201d = She went dancing.\/She was (out) dancing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Det var d\u00f8dens p\u00f8lse.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dIt was the sausage of death.\u201d = It was the most boring thing ever.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeg har en h\u00f8ne at plukke med dig.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dI have a hen to pluck with you.\u201d = I\u2019m angry with you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>S\u00e5 er den ged barberet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dThen that goat is shaved.\u201d = Done!
