Everybody is waiting for <strong>for\u00e5r<\/strong> (Spring), yet it seems like the <strong>vinter<\/strong> never ends this year\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few things you can do to survive winter in Denmark:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>vinterbade<\/strong> (\u201dwinter-bathe\u201d). Go and join \u2019em \u201dcrazy\u201d <strong>vinterbadere<\/strong> (winter bathers)! After a quick swim in the <strong>iskold<\/strong> sea, and a chat with your fellow, naked hobbyists in the <strong>sauna<\/strong>, I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll fall in love with the cold season\u2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>feste<\/strong> (party). This is what most Danes do. Arrange with your friends to meet at the town\u2019s most <strong><a title=\"That\u2019s hygge to me!\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/2012\/03\/10\/that-is-hygge\/\">hyggelig<\/a><\/strong> place. After the first <strong>\u00f8l<\/strong> you\u2019ll have forgotten there ever was such a thing as snow\u2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>g\u00e5 i biografen<\/strong> (go to the cinema). Pick a <strong>film<\/strong> with a warm, tropical setting, and let yourself drift away\u2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>k\u00f8be en lysterapilampe<\/strong> (buy a light-therapy lamp). Okay, it doesn\u2019t compare to looking at a real sunrise, but if you spend some minutes in front of your therapy lamp, for example while eating <strong>morgenmad<\/strong> (breakfast), I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll have a much brighter smile during the day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>spise fisk og appelsiner<\/strong> (eat fish and oranges). Who needs solar C and D vitamines, when you can get them from your food? Make room for the inner pleasures\u2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>smile<\/strong>. There is a Japanese proverb: \u201dOne smile can warm three winter months.\u201d Admitted, this isn\u2019t the typical Danish solution. Typical Danes prefer <strong>at brokke sig<\/strong> (to grumble), and share in each other\u2019s suffering, \u2019cause it sure is <strong>tr\u00e6ls<\/strong> (tiresome, laborious, bad) driving through a <strong>snestorm<\/strong> (snowstorm)!<\/li>\n<li><strong>st\u00e5 p\u00e5 ski<\/strong> (go skiing). Even though the Danish \u201d<a title=\"10 Danish Mountains You Should Climb\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/danish\/2013\/01\/20\/10-danish-mountains-you-should-climb\/\">mountains<\/a>\u201d are rather humble, there are plenty of hilly terrains where you can go skiing.
