Despite the fact that it is March, it has been a particularly cold, snowy and long winter here in the Netherlands.\u00a0 If you are interested in tracking the weather in the Netherlands, there is a great little site called buienradar<\/a> that tracks the weather across the Netherlands 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n

Here is a handy list of winter weather words that I’ve found myself using a lot lately, while hoping that the sun will come out again soon:<\/p>\n

de sneeuw: the snow<\/p>\n

besneeuwd : snowy<\/p>\n

het ijs : the ice<\/p>\n

glad : slippery<\/p>\n

de regen : the rain<\/p>\n

nat : wet<\/p>\n

de wind : the wind<\/p>\n

winderig : windy<\/p>\n

waaien : to blow (ex. door de wind waaien)<\/p>\n

de natte sneeuw : the sleet<\/p>\n

de hagel : the hail<\/p>\n

koud : cold<\/p>\n

ijskoud : freezing, literally ice-cold<\/p>\n
