{"id":1770,"date":"2011-12-15T10:54:45","date_gmt":"2011-12-15T10:54:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/dutch\/?p=1770"},"modified":"2014-07-18T15:29:15","modified_gmt":"2014-07-18T15:29:15","slug":"lets-make-oliebollen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/dutch\/lets-make-oliebollen\/","title":{"rendered":"Let&#8217;s Make Oliebollen!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The number of days before we ring in the New Year is getting less and less.\u00a0 So, now is the perfect time for you to get to work practising your Oliebollen making skills.\u00a0 These round doughnut like food items are made with yeast and deep fried before being covered in powdered sugar and are an important part of New Year\u2019s celebrations in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>As mentioned before, some people prefer their oliebollen without the currants and raisins, so feel free to leave those out if you are one of those people.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Oliebollen Recipe*<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Voor 16 stuks \u2013 Serves 16<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>0.5 sinaasappel \u2013 \u00bd orange, zest only<\/li>\n<li>30 g. verse gist, verkruimeld \u2013 30g fresh yeast, crumbled<\/li>\n<li>0.5 liter lauwwarme melk \u2013 \u00bd litre lukewarm milk<\/li>\n<li>500g tarwebloem \u2013 500g wheat flour<\/li>\n<li>2 theelepels suiker \u2013 2 teaspoons sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 theelepel zout \u2013 1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>1 theelepel gemalen kaneel \u2013 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>100g krenten en rozijnen, gewassen \u2013 100g currants and raisins, washed<\/li>\n<li>25g sukade, gesnipperd \u2013 25g candied peel, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li>1 appel, geschild en in kleine stukjes \u2013 1 apple, peeled and in small pieces<\/li>\n<li>olie om te frituren \u2013 oil for deep-frying<\/li>\n<li>poedersuiker \u00a0&#8211;
