{"id":1878,"date":"2012-02-02T13:26:21","date_gmt":"2012-02-02T13:26:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/dutch\/?p=1878"},"modified":"2014-07-18T15:38:29","modified_gmt":"2014-07-18T15:38:29","slug":"netherlands-whats-happening-in-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/dutch\/netherlands-whats-happening-in-february\/","title":{"rendered":"Netherlands: What&#8217;s Happening in February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are already into the second month of 2012.\u00a0 The time seems to speed by.\u00a0 So, what can you expect in the Netherlands for the month of February?\u00a0 Here are some of the highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Friesland \u2013 Now that the temperatures have finally dropped and winter appears to truly have arrived, the province of Friesland is pulling on their skates and preparing for the possibility of an elfstedentocht (11 cities tour).\u00a0 Do you think it will happen?<\/li>\n<li>They&#8217;ll be swapping skates for funny costumes in Noord Brabant and Limburg where February means <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carnavalvieren.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\">carnival<\/a> season.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/toerisme.groningen.nl\/en\/events\/studentenkamer-festival\" target=\"_blank\">Studentenkamer Festival<\/a> has student rooms being transformed into small theatres for music, dance, theatre, cabaret, poetry and film.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollandflowersfestival.nl\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Holland Flower Festival<\/a> will be taking place from February 22 to February 26<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 You\u2019ll be able to get your flower fill out the largest under-cover (as in protected from the elements rather than a secret event) floral gardens in the Netherlands.\u00a0 This year\u2019s theme focuses on India.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmfestivalrotterdam.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\">International Film Festival Rotterdam<\/a> is running for a few more days, until February 5<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 As the website explains, \u201cThe International Film Festival Rotterdam offers you a great opportunity to enjoy the work of talented film makers of the future. The real film lovers can even mingle and chat with the representatives of the film industry.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>From the 9<sup>th<\/sup> of February until the 12<sup>th<\/sup> you can visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artrotterdam.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\">International Art Fair of the Netherlands<\/a>. \u201cEmerging talents and the latest developments in visual art gather at Rotterdam\u2019s international art fair: Art Rotterdam.
