Earlier this month, King Willem-Alexander presented to the government and the Dutch people the changes for the coming year. Important topics such as health insurance costs, military expansions and the refugee crisis were all part of this very important speech.<\/p>\n

However,\u00a0Prinsjesdag<\/em> <\/a>isn’t only about the king’s speech. One very popular topic related to Prinsjesdag<\/i>\u00a0is the outfit choices of\u00a0the women who attend the speech. For some women, their attire is merely a matter of personal taste, but for others, such as the member of the Tweede Kamer<\/em>\u00a0Marianne Thieme from the\u00a0Partij voor de dieren,<\/em>\u00a0what they wear is about the political message they want to share.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Minister van Onderwijs<\/em>, Jet Bussemaker, arrived at this year’s Prinsjesdag<\/i> with a very interesting outfit designed by the\u00a0Technische Universiteit Eindhoven.<\/em>\u00a0The outfit was created by a vast array of designers from different disciplines at the university using the latest technology. The shoes she wore were designed for the spring to adapt to the walking style of the wearer. The dress was designed especially for the minister’s body using different types of ink and designs. The hoedje<\/em>, which was also designed and created by the same team, was very different and finished the outfit very well.\u00a0Although there were challenges for the designers, the team at TU Eindhoven was able to create a very unique outfit for the minister, an outfit that isn’t only innovative, but one that also represents the pragmatic philosophy of TU Eindhoven as well as many other Dutch institutions.<\/p>\n
