{"id":4303,"date":"2016-05-29T23:36:22","date_gmt":"2016-05-29T23:36:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/dutch\/?p=4303"},"modified":"2016-05-29T23:36:22","modified_gmt":"2016-05-29T23:36:22","slug":"the-first-asparagus-picking-nk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/dutch\/the-first-asparagus-picking-nk\/","title":{"rendered":"The First Asparagus Picking NK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Yesterday, the first <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nederlands Kampioenschap (NK) <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(Dutch Championship) <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">asperges steken <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(picking asparagus). <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Deelnemers <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(participants) from the twelve Dutch provinces competed on the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">aspergekwekerij <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(asparagus farm) <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Boereblij <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in Blaricum, province <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Noord-Holland <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(North Holland).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Last year, we covered the first <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/dutch\/a-new-sport-tegenwindfietsen\/\"><em>NK\u00a0<\/em><em>tegenwindfietsen<\/em><\/a>. The Dutch like to invent creative championships to compete against each other!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b><em>Het Kampioenschap<\/em><br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 541px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/luister527.nl\/artikel\/26911680\/titus-galema-uit-marknesse-wint-1e-groupon-nk-aspergesteken\" aria-label=\"146444353043957 26911635 800\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\"  width=\"531\" height=\"358\" \/ alt=\"146444353043957 26911635 800\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.demediahub.nl\/27000000\/26920000\/26912000\/146444353043957_26911635_800.jpg\"><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Titus Galema from Marknesse, Flevoland won, and is now Nederlands Kampioen Asperge Steken. He picked 1,45 kg (ca. 3 lbs)<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">deelnemers <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">had 15 minutes to pick <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">asperges <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">on a strip of 80 meters (ca. 27 ft) of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">akker <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(field). The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">deelnemer <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">that picks most <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">asperges<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0in weight in that time, wins. It is a very popular <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">groente <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(vegetable) in the Netherlands, and there are many <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">aspergegerechten <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(asparagus dishes) that the Dutch eat. How do we prepare <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">asperges <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">traditionally in the Netherlands?
