De kreeft heeft nauwelijks of geen natuurlijke vijanden <\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">(enemies)<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\"> en vermenigvuldigt <\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">(multiplies)<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\"> zich daardoor razendsnel. In principe eet de rivierkreeft vooral waterplanten maar als het beest hongerig is, wordt het een alleseter.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The only two serious enemies the crayfish might encounter in the Netherlands are humans and\u00a0<em>reigers\u00a0<\/em>or herons. Crayfish have been spotted in canals and even walking on land in some areas. The waterboards are urging fishermen to fish this plague before it gets worse. People are also encouraged to grab the\u00a0<em>rivierkreeft<\/em> and make a delicious meal!<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">De Amerikaanse rivierkreeft is echter niet alleen een plaag, maar\u00a0ook een delicatesse. In Louisiana wordt het beest op grote schaal gekweekt<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0(cultivated)<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0Ook in landen als Zweden is de rivierkreeft een gewild product. De landen die rivierkreeft exporteren, hebben te maken met meer vraag dan aanbod.
