Als je een burn-out hebt voel je je \u201cburned out\u201d, of opgebrand. Je kunt geen energie meer vinden om werk te verrichten.\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In other words, you have no energy to fulfill your regular activities and are emotionally unable to deal with it (in loose terms). Reasons for feeling burned out can include goals and\/or tasks that are too high to reach, little autonomy at work, being bullied at work, among others. An appropriate Dutch expression that describes this situation is\u00a0<em>de emmer loopt over\u00a0<\/em>meaning that this person&#8217;s responsibilities are just too much and your boundaries have been crossed (literal translation: the bucket is overfilled).<\/p>\n<p>The following video explains in more detail what happens to your body and the symptoms of burn out. In this video, you can find many useful words and expressions.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Burn-out - Symptomen en behandeling\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bilhPjdIc5Y?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>What can you do?<\/h3>\n<p>If you think\u00a0<em>&#8220;ik ben op&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0or I am all out,<em>\u00a0<\/em>it is important to research the situation and speak to some people. There are several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.123test.nl\/burnout\/\">quizzes online<\/a> that help you determine if you have the symptoms (note that these should not be taken as a professional diagnosis). You should also talk to your doctor or\u00a0<em>huisarts<\/em> about this. He might refer you to the POH-GGZ for further diagnosis. You can read more about that on a previous post I wrote about <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/dutch\/mental-health-in-the-netherlands\/\">mental health<\/a>. Lastly, the most important person you need to talk to about this is your\u00a0<em>werkgever\u00a0<\/em>or employer. Your employer can then refer you to the\u00a0<em>arboarts\u00a0<\/em>or work doctor. With the\u00a0<em>arboarts,\u00a0<\/em>you can set a plan of action as to what to do.<\/p>\n<h3>What are your rights and obligations?<\/h3>\n<p>Employers in the Netherlands are required to cover 70% of your salary for the first 104 weeks of your illness. This is why it is very important to talk to your\u00a0<em>werkgever, <\/em>the\u00a0<em>arboarts<\/em>\u00a0and your\u00a0<em>huisarts<\/em>.<em>\u00a0<\/em>The course of action to get you back on your feet may include therapy, rest, reduction of work hours, etc., but, this varies per person. During these 104 weeks, you cannot be fired from your job because the\u00a0<em>Nederlandse wet\u00a0<\/em>protects employees from that.<\/p>\n<p>Have you experienced burn out?
