A\u00a0voetbalwedstrijd\u00a0<\/em>(soccer match) unlike any wedstrijd <\/i>ever before. It happened last Tuesday on March 5. Ajax, a strong club in the Netherlands, but not the most prestigious in international circles, beat the world-class team of Real Madrid. And not by a little bit: 1 to 4!<\/p>\n

Wat een Wedstrijd!<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

In the Champions League, there is a\u00a0thuiswedstrijd\u00a0<\/em>(home match) and an\u00a0uitwedstrijd\u00a0<\/em>(away match). During the\u00a0thuiswedstrijd<\/em>, Ajax lost a bitter 1-2 to Real Madrid, meaning that they did not only have to win the second\u00a0wedstrijd<\/em>, but also make more goals in total than the Spanish opponent.<\/p>\n

And more goals they made!<\/p>\n

Let’s break down the game with a little story!<\/p>\n

DUTCH ORIGINAL<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In de zevende minuut scoort Hakim Ziyech de nul-\u00e9\u00e9n! Totaal verrassend brengt hij daarmee Ajax op kop en opent een spannende wedstrijd. <\/em><\/p>\n

En maar elf minuten later gaat het gewoon zo door. De Servische Du\u0161an Tadi\u0107 omzeilt een verdediger met een wonderschone beweging en stormt op het doel af. Kort voor het strafschopgebied ziet hij een kans voor een pass naar David Neres, die hem aan weet te nemen en hem koel afmaakt. Nul-twee!!! En dat na nog geen twintig minuten! Als Ajax de stand zo houdt, gaan ze door en Real Madrid vliegt uit het kampioenschap!<\/em><\/p>\n

Maar Ajax gaat gewoon door – en Real Madrid zit ook niet stil. Sergio Ramos is er niet bij door een gele kaart in de eerste wedstrijd, Bale schiet tegen de paal, Varane kopt tegen de lat, en ook Benzema krijgt de bal er niet in. En dan, na de pauze, in de 62ste minuut, gebeurt er iets merkwaardigs: Mazraoui ziet de bal naar de zijlijn gaan, maar houdt hem met een goede sliding maar net binnen. Of net niet? Het is erg onduidelijk, en de scheidsrechter laat doorspelen. Ziyech krijgt de bal te pakken, speelt hem prachtig naar voren, en uiteindelijk komt de bal w\u00e9\u00e9r bij Tadi\u0107 aan! En net voor het strafschopgebied geeft hij de bal een onverwachts harde schop en brengt hem hoog in de rechterhoek. Een mooi schot, onhoudbaar voor de Belgische keeper van Real, Thibaut Courtois. En het staat nul-drie! Of niet? Was de bal die Mazraoui net binnen hield wel binnen? De VAR checkt het. En het duurt bijna vijf minuten. Maar ja, uiteindelijk wordt de goal toegekend! Dus het is een tweede keer juichen – de wedstrijd blijft maar verrassen!<\/em><\/p>\n

Nog geen tien minuten later, in de 70ste minuut, maakt Real dan toch een doelpunt. De half-Nederlandse Asensio krijgt de bal voor de voeten en schiet hem er laag in. Maar het is al te laat. Real kan de wedstrijd niet meer omdraaien.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dan, na een overtreding dichtbij het doel van de Spaanse ploeg, maar twee minuten later, ziet de Deense Lasse Sch\u00f6ne iets. Hij laat het niet blijken, geeft aan dat de spelers zich moeten voorbereiden op de bal, en schiet. De bal vliegt door de lucht, richting het doel, Ajacieden springen, hun hoofden raken de bal net niet – maar de bal gaat erin! Sch\u00f6ne zag een hoek die de doelman niet had verwacht, en verrast hem compleet. Het staat \u00e9\u00e9n tegen vier. De wedstrijd lijkt gespeeld.<\/em><\/p>\n

In de 83ste minuut een fout. Benzema pakt de bal af van Frenkie de Jong, die gevaarlijk spel speelt achterin. Luka Modri\u0107 pakt de bal, geeft hem aan Benzema, die glijdt weg, Bale krijgt de bal maar de keeper van Ajax houdt hem tegen.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ook krijgt Madrid nog een gele kaart na een smerige overtreding van Nacho. Nadat hij ook nog protesteert tegen dit vonnis krijgt hij zelfs rood. En met de laatste minuten met een man minder en drie doelpunten achter lukt het zelfs een topclub als Real niet meer, de overwinning binnen te slepen. Ajax gaat door – Real Madrid is uit de Champions League. Wat een wedstrijd!<\/em><\/p>\n

In the seventh minute, Hakim Ziyech scores the zero-one! Surprising everybody, he brings Ajax ahead and opens an exciting match. And only eleven minutes later, it simply continues like that. The Serbian Du\u0161an Tadi\u0107 gets round a defender with a beautiful move and storms towards the goal. Shortly before the penalty box, he sees a chance for a pass to David Neres, who can receive it and finishes it coldly. Zero-two!!! And that after not even twenty minutes! If Ajax keeps the standing like this, they will pass and Real Madrid gets canned from the championship!<\/p>\n

But Ajax just keeps going – and Real Madrid does not sit still either. Sergio Ramos is not there due to a yellow card in the first match, Bale hits the post, Varane headed against the bar, and also Benzema is unable to push the ball in. And then, after the break, in the 62nd minute, something strange happens: Mazraoui sees the ball go towards the sideline, but is able to just keep it in with a good sliding. Or is it just out? It is very unclear, and the referee allows the game to keep going. Ziyech is able to get the ball, passes it on forward wonderfully, and finally the ball reaches Tadi\u0107\u00a0again<\/em>! And just before the penalty box, he shoots the ball with an unexpectedly hard kick and brings it high in the right corner. A beautiful shot, unstoppable for the Belgian keeper of Real, Thibaut Courtois. And it is zero-three! Or not? Was the ball Mazraoui could keep in really in? The VAR is checking it. And it takes almost five minutes. But yes, in the end the goal is recognized! So it is cheering for a second time – the game just keeps surprising!<\/p>\n

Not even ten minutes later, in the 70th minute, Real makes a goal at last. The half-Dutch Asensio receives the ball at his feet and kicks it in low. But it is already too late. Real can no longer turn the match around.<\/p>\n

Then, only two minutes later, after a foul close to the goal of the Spanish team, the Danish Lasse Sch\u00f6ne sees something. He does not show it, signals that the other players should prepare for the ball, and shoots. The ball whizzes through the air, towards the goal, Ajacieden<\/em> (Ajax players) jump, their heads almost reach the ball – but the ball goes in! Sch\u00f6ne saw a corner that the keeper had not expected, and completely surprises him. It is one to four. The game seems to be over.<\/p>\n

A mistake in\u00a0 the 83rd minute. Benzema wins the ball from Frenkie de Jong, who plays a dangerous game in the back. Luka Modri\u0107 gets the ball, passes it to Benzema, who slips away, Bale gets the ball, but the keeper of Ajax blocks him.<\/p>\n

And Madrid also gets a yellow card after a dirty foul by Nacho. After he protested the sentence, he even receives a red card. And in the last minutes with one man less and three goals behind, even a top club like Real does not succeed to bring in a victory. Ajax goes on – Real Madrid exits the Champions League. What a game!<\/p>\n
