The Heat Is On<\/strong><\/h2>\nThis week is seeing record\u00a0temperaturen\u00a0<\/em>(temperatures) in the Netherlands and other countries in Europe. While in some countries, a\u00a0hittegolf\u00a0<\/em>(heat wave) has already been proclaimed, this is not yet the case in the lowlands. The Dutch requirements are:<\/p>\n\n- Vijf dagen achtereen met maximumtemperaturen in De Bilt boven de 25 graden celsius. <\/em>(Five consecutive days with maximum temperatures in De Bilt above 25 degrees celsius (77\u00b0F).)<\/li>\n
- Op drie van deze vijf dagen moet de maximumtemperatuur in De Bilt boven de 30 graden celsius zijn<\/em>. (On three of these five days, the maximum temperature in De Bilt has to be above 30 degrees celsius (86\u00b0F).)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
De Bilt is the meetstation <\/em>( Today, June 25, is the third day in a row with temperatures crossing 25\u00b0C, and yesterday and today, it went above 30\u00b0C. Tomorrow is also going to be above 25\u00b0C, but the\u00a0weersverwachting\u00a0<\/em>(weather forecast) predicts 26\u00b0C (79\u00b0F), so it would just miss the nomer\u00a0hittegolf<\/em>.<\/p>\nHowever, the\u00a0weer\u00a0<\/em>(weather) in most places has prompted the code geel\u00a0<\/em>(Code Yellow)<\/a> to be in force until the end of Thursday, when the sweltering heat is expected to have mostly subdued. Code geel\u00a0<\/em>means that you should be\u00a0alert\u00a0<\/em>(watchful).
