Just some basic vocabulary for items you will find in the bedroom.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve already had a good look <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/dutch\/in-the-dutch-kitchen\/\">around the kitchen<\/a>.\u00a0 After this we&#8217;ll check out some verbs for household work, and vocabulary for the living room, the bathroom and the garden.\u00a0 Then we should be about done around the house.<\/p>\n<p>On a more cultural note, the Dutch use a type of bedding called a <em>dekbed<\/em>.\u00a0 In English I would call it a duvet, a cover that you put a down or filled comforter into.\u00a0 There are usually no flat sheets or blankets on the bed, and the inner <em>dekbed<\/em> is changed in thickness seasonally.\u00a0 Both methods have their pros and cons, I&#8217;m personally rather indifferent, although quite fond of how easy it is to make the bed in the morning without the hassle of sheets and blankets.\u00a0 Are you a die hard <em>dekbed<\/em> fan?\u00a0 Tell us why in the comments section below!\u00a0 You might even change my indifference.<\/p>\n<p>de slaapkamer : the bedroom<br \/>\nhet bed : the bed<br \/>\nhet stapelbed : the bunkbed<br \/>\nhet dekbed : the comforter, duvet<br \/>\nde sprei : the quilt, bedspread<br \/>\nhet laken : the bed sheet<br \/>\nhet hoeslaken : the fitted sheet<br \/>\nde deken : the blanket<br \/>\nhet kussen : the pillow<br \/>\nde sloop :\u00a0 the pillowcase<br \/>\nde wekker : the alarm clock<br \/>\nhet verhaaltje voor het slapen gaan : the bedtime story<br \/>\nde bedtijd : the bedtime<br \/>\nhet nachtlampje : the night light<br \/>\nhet nachtkastje : the bedside table<br \/>\nde kleerkast : the wardrobe<br \/>\nde ladekast : the dresser<br \/>\nde pyjama : the pajamas<br \/>\noogjes open! : literally eyes open, meaning: wakey wakey!<br \/>\nopstaan : to get up<br \/>\nslapen : to sleep<br \/>\nde slaap : the sleep<br \/>\nontspannen : to relax<br \/>\nlezen : to read<br \/>\nslaapdronken : (adj) drowsy<br \/>\nhet slaapgebrek : the lack of sleep<br \/>\nhet tukje: the nap<br \/>\nwakker : awake<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I know, it sounds like a rather tawdry title for this post, but nothing to see here folks!
