2021 – Perhaps not the best year we had. But as every year, there are hoogte- en dieptepunten <\/em>(ups and downs). And a\u00a0jaaroverzicht <\/em>(“year overview”, a end-of-year review) is a great way to reflect on the year to see this stuff. And the Dutch? Well, they enjoy doing that, too! Here are a few\u00a0jaaroverzichten<\/em> that give a pretty nice idea of what was in focus this year.<\/p>\n

NOS is the<\/em> Dutch TV\u00a0omroep\u00a0<\/em>(channel) for news. They host the most-watched Dutch evening news, and do a lot of other news programs, such as Nieuwsuur<\/em>. They also do the year in review for news: The\u00a0NOS Journaal Jaaroverzicht<\/em>. Different than just having an extended news program, they decided to go around the country to visit significant places for the news and talk to relevant people. A worthwhile watch to see what happened in the Netherlands in 2021 and how they viewed what happened in the world! Oh, and with Dutch subtitles, which makes everything better (you do have to turn those on, though).<\/p>\n

Like 2020, this year was also an important year for\u00a0de wetenschap\u00a0<\/em>(science). With\u00a0COVID still in full force, we need health science more than ever. Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, famous from the now discontinued talkshow\u00a0De Wereld Draait Door<\/em><\/a> sits down with Robbert Dijkgraaf for a look at the world of science this year.
