{"id":1584,"date":"2012-07-16T22:26:27","date_gmt":"2012-07-17T02:26:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/english\/?p=1584"},"modified":"2012-07-16T22:26:27","modified_gmt":"2012-07-17T02:26:27","slug":"practice-with-some-synonyms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/english\/practice-with-some-synonyms\/","title":{"rendered":"Practice with Some Synonyms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One great way to increase your English vocabulary is to learn synonyms for common words and vary the different words that you use to say the same or almost the same things.\u00a0 Using a more varied vocabulary makes what you say more interesting for other people to listen to.\u00a0 We all want to be more interesting to talk to right?<\/p>\n<p>Today I have a practice exercise for you that requires you to think of a synonym for each of the bolded words in the passage I have written below.\u00a0 In thinking of replacement words or synonyms for those words in bold below, remember that using a synonym will not alter the meaning of the sentence.\u00a0 Why not give rewriting this passage using different words a try?\u00a0 I will post how I would rewrite this passage using synonyms for the words in bold tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Note: There may be more than one correct synonym that can be used for some of the words in bold in this passage.<\/p>\n<p>Practice Exercise:<\/p>\n<p>The Natural History Museum is filled with <strong>many antique items<\/strong>.\u00a0 I am sure if you visit the museum you will <strong>enjoy walking<\/strong> around <strong>viewing<\/strong> all of the <strong>amazing<\/strong> <strong>articles<\/strong>.\u00a0 There are <strong>artifacts<\/strong> <strong>large<\/strong> and <strong>small<\/strong>.\u00a0 Many of the exhibits are about <strong>humans<\/strong> and animals, while other displays contain items made by <strong>humans<\/strong>.
