father, mom, and dad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are many different names for parents in English.\u00a0 Some of the different names people (children and adults) use to refer to their parents are found in different regions of the English speaking world, for example in England is more common to call one\u2019s mother, \u201cmummy\u201d or \u201cmum\u201d, than it is to do so in the United States.\u00a0 Some of these different names that people call their parents are just personal preferences and not related to a particular country or region.<\/p>\n<p>Below I have compiled a list of many different ways people say \u2018mother\u2019 and \u2018father\u2019 in English.\u00a0 One interesting thing about these lists is that all of the \u2018mother\u2019 related words start with the letter \u2018m\u2019 like the word mother itself, but none of the \u2018father\u2019 related words start with the letter \u2018f\u2019 like the word father.\u00a0 Take a look at these lists and see if any of these words are new to \u00a0 old man (as in \u201cmy old man\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Now, take a look at these words for grandmothers and grandfathers.\u00a0 A lot of grandparents come up with their own special names for themselves that their grandchildren use.\u00a0\u00a0 So there are a lot more non-traditional names for grandparents in the English speaking world that aren\u2019t part of these
