If you feel very strongly about a subject, you are probably going to express your opinion in a very strong way, with strong language, but if you are uncertain or unsure about something you will probably use less strong, or neutral words and expressions. Below are some expressions that can be used, on their own or as opening phrases, to express opinions in English. Take note of which phrases are used to express strong opinions and which are more neutral expressions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phrases to express strong opinion:<\/strong><br \/>\nThat is completely and utterly ridiculous.<br \/>\nAre you joking? or Are you kidding?<br \/>\nTo be perfectly frank, _______<br \/>\nWithout a shadow of a doubt, _______<br \/>\nI really don\u2019t think _______ or I really do think ________<br \/>\nNonsense.<br \/>\nAbsolutely.<br \/>\nI\u2019m positive that _________<br \/>\nQuite the opposite\u2026<br \/>\nI definitely agree\/disagree&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here are some examples of these expressions used in context:<\/strong><br \/>\nThat is completely and utterly ridiculous. You can\u2019t seriously think we are going to spend that much money on a new car.<br \/>\nWithout a shadow of a doubt the Boston Red Sox are a better team than the New York Yankees.<br \/>\nI definitely agree with your plan. It is the best plan I have heard all day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phrases to express a neutral opinion:<\/strong><br \/>\nI\u2019m not on the same page as you on this, ________<br \/>\nI don\u2019t think so.<br \/>\nI\u2019m no expert on this, but_________<br \/>\nFair enough.<br \/>\nI can accept that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And here are some examples of these used in context:<\/strong><br \/>\nI\u2019m not on the same page as you on this, but I can see where you are coming from with your opinion.<br \/>\nI\u2019m no expert on this, but I think that you are putting that together upside down.<br \/>\nEven though I don\u2019t fully agree, I can accept that.<\/p>\n<p>Now, let me ask you about your opinion.
