Today is Christmas Eve, which is the day before Christmas. Christmas is a holiday celebrated around the world by Christians. The last post<\/a> I wrote was about Santa Claus and some other Christmas characters associated with this holiday in the United States.\u00a0 Today I have a silly Christmas song about Santa Claus and his reindeer to share with you. If you didn\u2019t get the chance to read my previous post <\/a>yet, you may want to do that before going on with this one.<\/p>\n

Below are the lyrics to a funny Christmas song entitled \u2018Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.<\/strong>\u2019 This may not sound like a very good song, based on that title, but it is actually a fun, silly song that is a popular Christmas song in the United States.<\/p>\n

So, let\u2019s take a look at some of the lyrics to this song along with what these lyrics mean. At the end of this post is video which you can watch to hear this song.<\/p>\n

Merry Christmas everyone!<\/p>\n

Grandma got run over by a reindeer<\/strong>
\n(This means grandma was hit by one of Santa\u2019s reindeer.)<\/em>
\nWalkin’ home from our house Christmas eve<\/strong>
\n(Walkin’ is an informal way of saying \u2018walking.\u2019)<\/em>
\nYou can say there’s no such thing as Santa<\/strong>
\n(This could also be said as: \u2018You may say Santa does not exist.)<\/em>
\nBut as for me and Grandpa, we believe<\/strong>
\n(The singer of this song is a child who is talking about his grandmother. The singer is saying he and his grandfather believe in Santa Claus because of what happened to his grandmother, even though some people do not believe in Santa.)<\/em><\/p>\n

She’d been drinkin’ too much eggnog<\/strong>
\n(She=grandma; eggnog is a traditional sweet Christmas drink, which sometimes has alcohol put in it.)<\/em>
\nAnd we’d begged her not to go<\/strong>
\n(This could also be said as: \u2018We asked her not to leave.\u2019)<\/em>
\nBut she’d left her medication<\/strong>
\n(In this song, grandma left the family party because she wanted to go home to get her medication.)<\/em>
\nSo she stumbled out the door into the snow<\/strong>
\n(Stumble=to walk without balance.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Now the goose is on the table<\/strong>
\n(Goose is a traditional Christmas meal food.)<\/em>
\nAnd the pudding made of pig<\/strong>
\n(\u2018Pudding\u2019 is also a traditional Christmas food.)<\/em>
\nAnd a blue and silver candle<\/strong>
\n(Even though red and green are the most traditional Christmas colors, silver and blue are colors also associated with the holiday season and winter.)<\/em>
\nThat would just have matched the hair in Grandma’s wig<\/strong>
\n(Often people older women wear wigs that are silver or blue or pink, which is what this line is referring to.)\u2028\u2028<\/em><\/p>\n

\n(The singer is saying that s\/he has warmed his\/her friends and neighbors about reindeer accidentally hitting them\u2013 like they hit grandma.)<\/em>

\n(The singer is referring to a \u2018drivers license.\u2019)<\/em>
\nTo a man who drives a sleigh and plays with elves<\/strong>
\n(The \u2018man\u2019 who the singer is talking about is Santa Claus, who travels in a sleigh pulled by reindeer!)<\/em><\/p>\n
