With the Winter Olympics now underway what athletes are you watching?\u00a0 Who are you hoping will win gold?\u00a0 Today I\u2019m going to introduce you to a number of American athletes that have a lot of fans here in the United States.\u00a0 You may want to keep an eye out for these athletes and see how they do while you are watching your favorite competitors. See if you can figure out what sport each of these athletes are competing in during the games as you read below. You can learn more about the sports of the Winter Olympic Games<\/a> by reading my last post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bode Miller<\/strong>
\nBode Miller is 36 years old, which makes him one of the older athletes at these Winter Games, but this is not his first Olympics. He has already taken home five Olympic medals (as well as World Cup titles). He is very good and very fast<\/em> at what he does. Do you know what sport he is a competitor in? I\u2019ll give you a hint: it involves skiing. (Check below for the answers.)

\nMeryl Davis and Charlie White<\/strong>
\nThese two people are competing together, which should give you a hint as to what type of athletes they are. These two have been competing together since 1997. They have won six national titles in the United States and they are hoping to win gold at the Olympics this year. The Canadian team is one of their biggest competitors. What sport do you think they compete in?<\/p>\n

Shani Davis<\/strong>
\nShani Davis has been described as having \u201cgreat turns, lightening speed and graceful technique,\u201d but that could be said of athletes in a lot of sports in the Winter Games. If these Olympic games go his way, Shani may become the first Olympian to win gold three times in a row in the same event. Do you know what sport he competes in?<\/p>\n

Shaun White<\/strong>
\nShaun White is famous around the world for his daring athletics. At the last Winter Games he won a gold medal in a completion called the \u201chalfpipe\u201d. He has also won first place in the halfpipe in the Winter X Games. If you don\u2019t already know, can you guess what sport he competes in?<\/p>\n
