Below I have defined each of these \u2018life idioms\u2019 and I have also given examples of how each one is used.\u00a0 If you have any questions about these life idioms please post your question in the comments box below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>the light of someone\u2019s life<\/strong> &#8211; the person you love most<br \/>\nExample: My daughter is <em>the light of my life<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>to lead a double life<\/strong> &#8211; to have a second or secret life (there is usually a negative connotation with this)<br \/>\nExample: After 20 years of marriage Jessica found out that her husband <strong>was leading a double life<\/strong> with another wife and 3 children in another town.<\/p>\n<p><strong>to risk life and limb<\/strong> &#8211; to do something very dangerous where you might get hurt<\/p>\n<p>Example: The boys skied down the mountain, <em>risking life and limb<\/em>, but they were young so they didn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>the best things in life are free<\/strong> &#8211; the most satisfying experiences do not always cost a lot of any money<br \/>\nExample: We spent the whole day hiking, had a wonderful time, and didn&#8217;t spend a penny. <em>The best things in life are free<\/em>!<\/p>\n<p><strong>it\u2019s a dog\u2019s life<\/strong> &#8211; life is hard and\/or unpleasant<br \/>\nExample: I have three jobs.
