It is now summer, at least in the northern hemisphere, which means the weather outside is getting hotter. Today I thought I would introduce you to a number of new ways to say \u2018hot\u2019 in English. This way you will have many more words to choose from the next time some asks you, \u201cWhat is the weather like outside?\u201d<\/p>\n

Here are some synonyms for the word \u2018hot<\/strong>\u2019 when talking about the weather:<\/p>\n

sultry<\/strong>
\nsweltering<\/strong>
\nbalmy<\/strong>
\nblazing hot<\/strong>
\nblistering<\/strong>
\nboiling<\/strong><\/p>\n

Examples:
\nIt is sultry<\/strong> outside today.
\nIs another sweltering<\/strong> day.
\nThe weather is simply balmy<\/strong>.
\nIt is blazing hot<\/strong> again today.
\nThe heat is blistering<\/strong>.
\nIt is boiling<\/strong> outside.<\/p>\n

Now, here are some expressions people also use to talk about the weather being hot:<\/p>\n

hot as hades <\/strong>or<\/em> hot as hell<\/strong>
\nhotter than blazes<\/strong>
\nit\u2019s a scorcher<\/strong>
\nit\u2019s so hot you could fry and egg on the sidewalk<\/strong><\/p>\n

Examples:
\nIt is hot as hades<\/strong> out today.
\nOn our vacation to the Caribbean it was hotter than blazes<\/strong> everyday so we never left the poolside.
\nIt is another scorcher<\/strong> folks, be sure to put on your sunscreen.
\nIt is so hot <\/strong>today you could fry an egg on the sidewalk!<\/strong><\/p>\n
