This is not a list of all business-related abbreviations (that list would be too long), but these are some of the most important abbreviations in my opinion. If you know any abbreviations that I should add to this list let me know by posting comment below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Business English abbreviations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>AP<\/strong> \u2013 Accounts Payable \u2013 payments owed by a company to a supplier or creditor<\/p>\n<p><strong>CEO<\/strong> \u2013 Chief Executive Officer \u2013 the top most executive in a for-profit organization or business<\/p>\n<p><strong>CFO<\/strong> \u2013 Chief Financial Officer \u2013 the person primarily responsible for managing the financial risks of a business or corporation<\/p>\n<p><strong>CIO<\/strong> \u2013 Chief Investment Officer \u2013 the person responsible for a company&#8217;s investment portfolio by managing and monitoring all business investment activity<\/p>\n<p><strong>COO<\/strong> \u2013 Chief Operating Officer \u2013 the person who oversees ongoing business operations within a business or company; the COO reports to the CEO and is usually second-in-command at a company<\/p>\n<p><strong>FIFO<\/strong> \u2013 First In First Out \u2013 an asset-management method that involves using assets that are acquired first before assets that acquired later (or second)<\/p>\n<p><strong>HR<\/strong> \u2013 Human Resources \u2013 a person (or department) that is responsible for administration, hiring, and training all the people employed in a company<\/p>\n<p><strong>HQ<\/strong> \u2013 headquarters \u2013 the building that is the main administrative center of an organization; often the place where the top most people in a company work<\/p>\n<p><strong>K<\/strong> \u2013 an abbreviation for 1,000; for example, $350K is the same as $350,000<\/p>\n<p><strong>LLC<\/strong> \u2013 Limited Liability Company \u2013 a company that is set up so that members of the company cannot be held personally liable or responsible for company debt if the company has financial problems<\/p>\n<p><strong>MBA<\/strong> \u2013 Master\u2019s of Business Administration \u2013 a graduate degree in business<\/p>\n<p><strong>MOQ<\/strong> \u2013 Minimum Order Quantity \u2013 the minimum amount that can be ordered of a particular product that a company sells<\/p>\n<p><strong>NAV<\/strong> \u2013 Net Asset Value \u2013 the value of a business\u2019 assets minus the value of its liabilities<\/p>\n<p><strong>NYSE<\/strong> \u2013 New York Stock Exchange \u2013 the world&#8217;s largest stock exchange located in New York City on Wall street<\/p>\n<p><strong>PR<\/strong> \u2013 Public Relations \u2013 a person (or a department) that spreads information about a business or company and answers questions about the company<\/p>\n<p><strong>P&amp;L<\/strong> \u2013 Profit and Loss \u2013 a financial statement that summarizes the revenues, costs, and expenses that a company has during a specific period of time, often a quarter (1\/4 of a year)<\/p>\n<p><strong>R&amp;D<\/strong> \u2013 Research and Development \u2013 a department in a business that conducts research into making or developing new products<\/p>\n<p><strong>ROI\u00a0<\/strong> \u2013 Return on Investment \u2013 a financial term that refers to a number that a business looks at to see if an investment will be profitable<\/p>\n<p><strong>USP<\/strong> \u2013 Unique Selling Proposition \u2013 this refers to the unique qualities of a product that make it something people want to buy over another similar product<\/p>\n<p><strong>VAT<\/strong> \u2013 Value Added Tax \u2013 tax on certain goods and services (used in Europe)<\/p>\n<p><strong>WO<\/strong> \u2013 work order \u2013 an order received by a business from a customer to create something or complete certain work<\/p>\n<p><strong>YTD<\/strong> \u2013 Year-to-Date \u2013 the period from the beginning of the year to the present time;
