Visit the Colorado State Capitol, where you can see why Denver is called the ‘Mile High City.’

Keep walking around downtown to see other famous symbols of the city, such as the Big Blue Bear. This 40-foot tall bear is looking into the convention center, possibly for honey. For a dose of culture, head to some of the city’s museums, such as the Denver Art Museum or the Byers Evans House. Walk by the fountain to check out the historic Union Station. Finally, take a stroll along the 16th Street Mall, which has a wide variety of shops, restaurants, bars, and more.

While the city is great and all, you have to get out to the mountains. Visit Breckenridge, where you can take the chairlift up to get some great views. In the winter months, this place is packed with skiers and snowboarders. In other seasons you can come here to hike, go mountain biking, play mini-golf, or just go down the big slide.

In town, visit the Breckenridge Brewery & Pub. Choose from their many craft beers, get a table with a view, and order up some lunch. Work off that lunch by taking a walk through the town. It’s a great place to do some window shopping. Find far out gifts at Space Cowboy, check out the huge collection of crystals and jewelry at Timeless Collections, pick up some jerky, or head into Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Just 30 miles from Denver, you’ll find Boulder. Home to the University of Colorado, this is a great place to do some hiking and breathe in that Rocky Mountain air. Chautauqua Park has a few different trails of different lengths and difficulties to choose from. Enjoy the views of the famous rock formations known as the Flatirons as you walk. From high up here, you’ll also get a bird’s eye view of the town and beyond. You may even see some wildlife on your hike. Head down before dark as the town lights up below.

Finish up on Pearl Street, where you’ll find the West Flanders Brewing Co. They’ve got plenty of good beers here, which go great with a salad or some chicken wings.”

With a few days in Colorado, you can visit the state’s capital city of Denver, head up to the mountains in Breckenridge, and take a hike in Boulder.
