Start in Jackson Square, an historic park. Just outside the square is the beautiful St. Louis Cathedral. Around the square, you’ll find plenty of local artists selling their work. You can also get a palm reading done, or just take in some music. You’ll quickly notice that music is everywhere in this city.

Continue on your walking tour and head towards the river. You’ll see some more funky art along the way, and perhaps a lively street performance. Here you’ll find Woldenberg Park, a nice green space along the mighty Mississippi. You’ll see the Monument to the Immigrant and the Holocaust Memorial here. At the end of the park is the aquarium if you’re so inclined.

Finally, it’s time for lunch. Head to New Orleans Creole Cookery to try some local food. They’ve got some great lunch specials. Order up the classic red beans and rice along with pecan crusted catfish and some Cajun style pasta.

Get lost wandering around the French Quarter, admiring the architecture, or doing a bit of window shopping. This is the oldest and most famous ‘hood in NOLA, so spend most of your day here. Of course, there’s even more music!

With the sun down, it’s time to hit Bourbon street – maybe for some huge ass beers. Or maybe just some normal sized beers. There are tons of bars to choose from, along with plenty of entertainment in the street.

If it’s music you seek, walk up Decatur Street past the Joan of Arc Statue. First you’ll want to soak up some of that beer. Head to Dat Dog, where you’ll find some epic hot dogs and sausages. Be sure to check out the pictures out front while you’re at it. Try the Bacon Werewolf, or the Dat Chick – both great options.

Frenchmen Street is full of live music. Pick up an awesome shirt and catch the band at The Maison, then go up the street to Cafe Negril. There’s music everywhere here, every night of the week, and yes – it spills out on to the street. Have fun in NOLA, kids, but just remember – Jesus is watching.

Our Big Easy adventure begins with a stroll in the French Quarter.
